Something new has landed at Filmworks, and if you already know Kanada-Ya, this is one to pay attention to.

Introducing Zuru Zuru, a fresh, more relaxed concept from the same family. It’s rooted in everything people love about Kanada-Ya, but with a broader menu and a slightly different energy.

From ramen specialists to something more

Kanada-Ya built its reputation on authentic tonkotsu ramen, with a meticulous approach to broth, noodles, and balance in every bowl.

Zuru Zuru keeps that same foundation but opens things up. It’s inspired by the atmosphere of growing up around ramen kitchens, where the sound of people enjoying their food said everything.

The result is a space that feels more playful and informal, while still taking the food seriously.

What’s new on the menu

At its core, ramen is still front and centre. The signature tonkotsu broth is slow-simmered for around 18 hours, delivering the same rich, creamy depth Kanada-Ya is known for.

But this is where things expand.

The Zuru Zuru menu goes beyond the bowl, introducing a wider mix of Japanese comfort dishes designed for longer, more relaxed dining:

  • Donburi topped with everything from wagyu beef to flame-seared salmon
  • Sukiyaki, a warming, shareable hotpot-style dish
  • Sushi tacos and new small plates
  • Rotating specials that bring in seasonal flavours and new ideas

It’s still rooted in tradition, just with more variety and a bit more room to explore.

A different kind of dining experience

Zuru Zuru isn’t just about what’s on the menu, it’s about how you eat it.

The space leans into a more relaxed, social feel. It works just as well for a quick ramen stop as it does for longer catch-ups, casual dates, or group dinners.

There’s also a focus on customisation, from choosing noodle firmness to building your ideal bowl with toppings, keeping that authentic ramen experience at the centre.

Now open at Filmworks

Located right in the heart of Filmworks, Zuru Zuru brings something new to the line-up while staying connected to a well-loved name.

If you’re already a fan of Kanada-Ya, this is the next step. And if you’re new to it, there’s no better place to start.

Come hungry. And don’t hold back on the slurping.
